A little trinket box...

On Wednesday a good friend of mine celebrated her birthday and I wanted to make a trinket box for her. As mentioned on my previous post I focussed on turning wooden blanks into creations for this week.

I entered this into the Papersmooches SPARKS Challenge which is based on the following picture.

The blank:

The result:

I used BoBunny Wall to Wall Textures stamp set (wood panel image) together with Hero Arts Wet Cement to create a look of a small "crate" box. I stamped the sentiment on the outside of the lid from Papersmooches Pretty Phrases using Adirondack Dabber in Lemonade. The flower image in the background is from PS Botanicals 1 using Wet Cement. On the inside of the lid, I stamped the sentiment from PS Party Posse also using Lemonade. I stamped the kitty as well from the same set and coloured her in using Copics (Y00, Y02, Y08, BG13, BG23, BG34). I used Martha Stewarts satin acrylic craft paint in Beach Glass to colour inside the box (note I added gesso before I did this).

To finish off the box I added enamel dots, rhinestone/gem patterns, flower button and most importantly box "legs" which were painted with Lemonade as well.

Let's just say...she loved it!!

PS SPARKS Challenge Entry 1 - Picture Perfect

Hey Everyone,

Papersmooches are holding their weekly SPARKS challenge...and what fun! The inspirational challenge this week is based on a picture as shown below:

So I was enthusiastic to find a way to actually recreate this image...as I said it was fun and a challenge indeed!

Here's the result...

Let's get started....my base consists off white cardstock measuring 4 1/8 by 7 3/4 inch. I used a woodgrain patterned paper from Heidi Grace Day Dream paper pad which is 1/16inch smaller on either sides and is adhered directly to the base.

I hand drew the shape of the bottles on blue and black cardstock and cut them out using scissors and a craft knife. More details of the bottles below for quick referencing:

Blue Bottle
- Measures 4 1/8 inch tall by 1 1/2 inch wide,
- I heat embossed an image from Prima using Ranger Orange Sherbet onto a acetate sheet,
- Contains blue sequins for the "shaker" part,
- Stamped the stalk image from PS Botanicals 1 using Distress ink Crushed Olive,
- The centre of the flower is stamped from PS Botanicals 2 using Distress ink Mustard Seed, and
- The petals were created using a repeated stamping technique of the image from PS Botanicals 2 set using Hero Arts Poppy chalk ink.

Black Bottle
- Measures 4 1/8 inch tall by 1 1/2 inch wide,
- I stamped an image from Kaisercrafts 75 Cents stamp set using Dew Drop Pretty Petunia onto a white cardstock, hand cut it out and adhered it to the acetate,
- Contains black sequins for the "shaker" part,
- Stamped the stalk image from PS Botanicals 1 using Distress ink Crushed Olive,
- The centre of the flower is stamped from PS Botanicals 2 using Distress ink Mustard Seed, and
- The petals were created using a repeated stamping technique of the image from PS Botanicals 2 set using Dew Drop Pretty Petunia ink.

I completely assembled the card, stamped my "thrilled for you" sentiment from PS Simply Said Stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black and lastly added some purple stitching.

I hope you liked the card! Please do leave comments and tell me what you think of my interpretation of the challenge...:)

Have an awesome week ahead and happy crafting!
