A little trinket box...

On Wednesday a good friend of mine celebrated her birthday and I wanted to make a trinket box for her. As mentioned on my previous post I focussed on turning wooden blanks into creations for this week.

I entered this into the Papersmooches SPARKS Challenge which is based on the following picture.

The blank:

The result:

I used BoBunny Wall to Wall Textures stamp set (wood panel image) together with Hero Arts Wet Cement to create a look of a small "crate" box. I stamped the sentiment on the outside of the lid from Papersmooches Pretty Phrases using Adirondack Dabber in Lemonade. The flower image in the background is from PS Botanicals 1 using Wet Cement. On the inside of the lid, I stamped the sentiment from PS Party Posse also using Lemonade. I stamped the kitty as well from the same set and coloured her in using Copics (Y00, Y02, Y08, BG13, BG23, BG34). I used Martha Stewarts satin acrylic craft paint in Beach Glass to colour inside the box (note I added gesso before I did this).

To finish off the box I added enamel dots, rhinestone/gem patterns, flower button and most importantly box "legs" which were painted with Lemonade as well.

Let's just say...she loved it!!

Clockwork!

Yet another entry into the Papersmooches SPARKS challenge!

The November picture is:

The very first thing that got me into crafting was mixed media and turning plain old wooden blanks into beautiful creations. So it was good to sit down and put some time into that rather than making the usual cards.

I decided to turn the following blank into a clock :) As you can see, I've made my markings and drill a hole for the clock device.

The final result:

I used BoBunny Wall to Wall Textures stamp set (wood panel image) together with Hero Arts Wet Cement to create the background. I stamped the leaves from Papersmooches Botanicals 2 stamp set in Versamagic Aquatic Splash. The turtle image is from PS Party Posse and is first stamped using TH Peacocks Feathers and then coloured in using Copics (Y00, Y02, Y08, BG13, BG23, BG34). I stuck on some numbers and the clock hands (hour and minute) are made from cut out sentiments from PS Scripty Sayings.

I finished my project by adding some gold corners. Hope you find some inspiration from this!

PS SPARKS Challenge Entry 2 - T-Rex tag

Hey,

It's my second entry into Papersmooches SPARKS challenge. The inspirational challenge this week is based on the following picture:

My result...

The tag base is a wood panel patterned paper from My Mind's Eye Bright Side and measures 2 1/2 by 3 3/4 inches. I stamped the "hey buddy" sentiment from PS Simply Said using Distress ink Broken China. I then glued down some velvet blossoms from Maya Road.

Onto my critter...its the T-Rex from PS Party Posse and is coloured in using Copic Ciaos (B02, B05, B63, V17 and V06). I added Ranger black enamel accents to his eye to make it more visible.

To finish off I added an eyelet and some twine from WRMK. I also added some highlighting to the critter using a white gel pen.

NOTE: I'm also entering this into SSS Wednesday Challenge - Tag it.

Have a great weekend!

Papersmooches - Party time!!

Hi Friends,

I decided to try making a gift tag :)

I started off with a white base measuring 2 3/4 by 3 5/8 inches. I had some striped vellum, cut out a strip of about an inch and glued it down to the base and then rounded the bottom corners. I stamped the kitty and hat from PS Party Posse stamp set and coloured her in using Copic Ciaos (Kitty - RV23, RV13, RV14; Hat - V01, V12, V06)

I hand cut a ribbon tag from white cardstock, heat embossed in black "party time" from PS Birthday Sampler stamp set and then stained the tag using Spun Sugar. I mounted it onto the base using foam squares, added an eyelet and enamel dots.

Papersmooches - Smile Friend

I'm back with another card using Papersmooches!

The white panel measures 4 by 5 1/4 inches and I foam tape mounted a Chevron sticker from Echo Park, Yellow Submarine. I then moved on to stamping the hamster from PS Party Posse stamp set and colored him in using my Copic Ciaos (Y17, Y38 and Y28). I heat embossed in black "friend" from PS Bold Buzzwords, stamped the "smile" and hearts from PS Script Sayings in Hero Arts Pumpkin Pie and Distress ink Festive Berries respectively.

To assemble the card, I cut out another panel of red cardstock measuring 4 1/8 by 5 1/4 inches and adhered it to my yellow cardstock base side folded to 4 1/4 by 5 1/4 inches. I adhered my white panel over the base and added washi tape, enamel dots and rounded the top corner.

Pretty Pink Posh Cutting Edge Blog Hop - Card 1

I'm super excited as I'm participating in my very first blog hop!...and this one is being hosted by Pretty Pink Posh...check out their blog here.

When I first started crafting I decided to buy myself a die cutting machine because I believe it to be an investment rather than buying steel dies which in my country can be quite an expensive venture to start a collection. However when there are sales on dies I will definitely take up the opportunity...so you can gather that my collection isn't big at all. I can count how many dies I have on one hand to give you an idea :)

One of the dies I have is Simonsaysstamp Life Bubble Round Die and I tried my best incorporating this into my card. I settled on colours containing blue and greys...

I started with a base of natural cardstock (similar to Neenah Desert Storm), its top folded to 4 by 5 1/2 inches. I used a grey patterned paper from My Minds Eye Bright Side collection that's measuring 3 3/4 by 51/4 inches and I adhered it flat onto the base, after rounding two corners. I then die cut my bubble out of some light blue cardstock. I background stamped twice, using Distress Ink in the colour Iced Spruce, the splatter image from Tim Holtz Bitty Grunge rubber stamp set. I then stamped using Black Soot the "Happy Everything" sentiment from Papersmooches Simply Said stamp set. I trimmed the die to fit into the corner of the card and with a dauber I distressed the edges using Iced Spruce. I mounted it with foam squares onto the base.

Onto the image, I used the turtle from the Papersmooches Party Posse stamp set and stamped it using Black Soot. I used Copic Ciao markers to colour in the body (B00, BG000, BG13 and BG15) and shell (W1, W3 and W5). I trimmed it out and used foam squares to mount it down. To finish of the card I stamped some stars from Papersmooches Bold Buzzwords stamp set using Hero Arts Shadow Ink in the colour Silver and then added clear and blue sequins.

I plan to enter two more cards...let's see how far I get :)

SYS2 Card 4

Hey Everyone,

My card today showcases the most adorable kitty image stamp ever...simply my favourite! It's from Papersmooches and the set is called Party Posse. I stamped it onto white cardstock using Black Soot Distress Ink and coloured it in using Copic Ciaos markers. I used various pink and purple colours till I was satisfied with the final blended colour. I added with white gel pen a little highlight on its nose and then cut out the entire image, leaving a 1mm white edge around it.

Moving onto the tag on the card, I used white cardstock and cut it down to 2 by 3 1/2 and trimmed out a flag end. I also cut vellum 2mm (approx. 1/16")  smaller than the white cardstock tag. I then heat embossed clear powder onto a pink stamped sentiment image from the Party Posse set. I took a pink Copic Ciao and lightly coloured the back side of the stamped image on the vellum. Using clear adhesive I adhered the vellum onto the tag.

Onto the panel...I made use of a plaid patterned paper by Fabscraps and cut it down to 4 by 5 1/4 inches. I temporarily adhered it to my craft sheet and then also a stencil over it towards the bottom right corner. The stencil used was the Doily template by Kaisercraft. I then used white embossing paste by Wendy Vecchi and applied it over the stencil with a pallet knife. I had to be careful not to over apply the paste as it can seep under the stencil and ruin the image. I then removed the stencil gently and left it to dry. (Note: Stencils should be washed immediately)

After the paste dried, I mounted the panel using foam squares onto a Neenah Solar white cardstock side-folded down to 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches. The tag and kitty image were mounted over the panel also using foam squares. I finished of the card with a few pink sugar dots by Prima.

Hope you enjoyed the card...Go on and create your version!
