A bouquet of flowers...

Hi Friends,

I'm back again with one of my favourite challenges that I always try to make an effort to enter. It's the picture perfect challenge by Papersmoochesstamps.

This weeks inspiration was the following photo:

My result:

I started of with a Neenah solar white card base and then adhered a blue cardstock panel. The flowers are from PS Botanicals 2 stamp set...all inked and yes painfully handcut :)...Papersmooches needs to release some dies for these stamp sets! Inks used were TH Old Paper, Antique Linen, Shabby Shutters and Hero Arts Wet Cement and Silver. I stamped the saying from PS Pretty Phrases using Hero Arts Pumpkin Pie. I added a die cut silver butterfly and some jute cord to finish the card off.

A little trinket box...

On Wednesday a good friend of mine celebrated her birthday and I wanted to make a trinket box for her. As mentioned on my previous post I focussed on turning wooden blanks into creations for this week.

I entered this into the Papersmooches SPARKS Challenge which is based on the following picture.

The blank:

The result:

I used BoBunny Wall to Wall Textures stamp set (wood panel image) together with Hero Arts Wet Cement to create a look of a small "crate" box. I stamped the sentiment on the outside of the lid from Papersmooches Pretty Phrases using Adirondack Dabber in Lemonade. The flower image in the background is from PS Botanicals 1 using Wet Cement. On the inside of the lid, I stamped the sentiment from PS Party Posse also using Lemonade. I stamped the kitty as well from the same set and coloured her in using Copics (Y00, Y02, Y08, BG13, BG23, BG34). I used Martha Stewarts satin acrylic craft paint in Beach Glass to colour inside the box (note I added gesso before I did this).

To finish off the box I added enamel dots, rhinestone/gem patterns, flower button and most importantly box "legs" which were painted with Lemonade as well.

Let's just say...she loved it!!

Clockwork!

Yet another entry into the Papersmooches SPARKS challenge!

The November picture is:

The very first thing that got me into crafting was mixed media and turning plain old wooden blanks into beautiful creations. So it was good to sit down and put some time into that rather than making the usual cards.

I decided to turn the following blank into a clock :) As you can see, I've made my markings and drill a hole for the clock device.

The final result:

I used BoBunny Wall to Wall Textures stamp set (wood panel image) together with Hero Arts Wet Cement to create the background. I stamped the leaves from Papersmooches Botanicals 2 stamp set in Versamagic Aquatic Splash. The turtle image is from PS Party Posse and is first stamped using TH Peacocks Feathers and then coloured in using Copics (Y00, Y02, Y08, BG13, BG23, BG34). I stuck on some numbers and the clock hands (hour and minute) are made from cut out sentiments from PS Scripty Sayings.

I finished my project by adding some gold corners. Hope you find some inspiration from this!

For you..Friend

It's been a long while since I've been on the blog...this week I managed to squeeze in some time to make a few items to enter into the Papersmooches SPARKS Challenge. This week saw the challenge based on the following picture for inspiration...I absolutely loved working with these colours, they go well together!

My card result:

I haven't been using my embossing folders for some time now and so I decided to incorporate them into this card. I used the Elaborate Quatrefoil folder from Anna Griffin and inked it with TH Squeezed Lemonade before running my cardstock panel through. I cut out tags for the sentiments, stamped my images using Color Theory Doc Brown and Hero Arts Splash. The images are from Papersmooches Bold Buzzwords and Birthday Sampler stamp sets.

To finish of the card, I glued down the panel to a white base, added eyelets, the wooden bicycle, glossy accents to the hearts and a touch of stitching.

Hope you enjoyed the card!

Last minute entries - WCMD2014 winnie&walter

I tried to squeeze in 2 entries tonight...decided to try out On trend and color combo again. I loved the latter... So much possibilities!

My "On trend" entry is a small tag with some vinyl digital cuts from winnie&walter.. Oh and I found a camera washi tape in my stash... Forgot about that :)

My "color combo" entry is a distressed background in Tattered Rose...yup I used that one again. I took some of that ink to color my texture paste which I applied over my stencil. I added a lace tape which I stained with a mixture of 3 colors, sprayed it with water and dabbed the color off. I finished off with a sentiment and a flower.

The hanging key with enamel dots and golden liquid pearls were my finishing elements.

Card 4:

That image used all 3 colors with the centre of attention being the golden heart...it's too cute. The gold stitching with cardstock sentiment brought the card together. And what's life without a bit of washi tape :)

Card 3:

I used the digital files from winnie&walter to create this colored camera and the vinyl flashes...added that to some grey polka dot patterned paper and finished it off with washi tape...that "smile" sentiment ties everything off!

Patterned play - WCMD2014 winnie&walter

My second entry into winnie&walter WCMD2014.

Papersmooches SPARKS Challenge - Designer Draft 4

Papersmooches are having their Sparks Challenge and this week its a designer draft based on the ffg:

 My result:

For the last card, I first stencilled my KaiserCraft Doily template with a gold oil paintstik. I then cut strips to adhere to the blue base. In between two strips I added gold glitter washi tape from Kelly Purkey. To that I also added striped washi tape and gold stitching. I white heat embossed the sentiment from PS Birthday Sampler. To finish off I adhered the digital flowers from PS using foam squares after I coloured them using Copics ( BG13, BG49, BG23, Y08)

NOTE: I'm entering this into World Card Making Day 2014.

Papersmooches SPARKS Challenge - Designer Draft 3

Papersmooches are having their Sparks Challenge and this week its a designer draft based on the ffg:

My result:

I stamped the fern and dandelion images from PS Botanicals 1 set using Crushed Olive and Worn Lipstick inks. As you may have guessed I had to use masking in order to get the alternating colour. The sentiment is from PS Birthday Sampler and stamped in Picked Raspberry. To finish off I added some enamel dots, a button, lime floss and the digital leaf from PS (coloured using Copics YG03, YG06 and YG11).

NOTE: I'm entering this into World Card Making Day 2014.

Papersmooches SPARKS Challenge - Designer Draft 2

My result:

I must say I love this owl critter...he is too cute! He is also a digital file available from PS and is coloured using Copics (E25, E35, E79, E59). I took some natural cardstock and stamped a branch image using Hero Arts Passion Flower ink. I then used Copics (V06, V17) to darken the leaves to add more interest. The sentiment is from PS Scripty Sayings and is stamped using Walnut Stain ink. I adhered the owl using foam squares.

Papersmooches SPARKS Challenge - Designer Draft 1

Hey Friends,

It feels like ages since I've posted anything...well 10days is. I spent last weekend visiting my mum after 9months...it was well deserved but coming back to work really tired me out and hence I'm posting my entries so late. Onto my cards for today...I've got 4 for you'll :) Update: Had to separate the cards for linking up to PS...so be sure to check the other posts.

Papersmooches are having their Sparks Challenge and this week its a designer draft based on the ffg:

 My result:

This card was assembled with a white cardstock base and some patterned paper. I stamped a wavy image in Picked Raspberry and my sentiment from PS Birthday Sampler stamped with Versafine Onyx Black onto an adhesive tag. The bee is the digital file available from PS and I coloured it using Copics (C1, C2, E02, Y08, Y11, Y00). I drew in his antennas since it was too small to cut out. Lastly I added some glossy accents to his eyes, 3 enamel dots and white highlighting.

Hope you'll enjoy my cards posted for today!

Tuesday 23 September 2014

This is happiness!

So I'm trying to incorporate some autumn cards since that's the season USA is experiencing even though I'm loving spring here :)

I utilised a patterned paper from My Mind's Eye Bright Side and used a dauber to distress Wild Honey for my stencil. I used one of the stencils from Prima that looked like a pumpkin with vines... Well that's what it looked like to me :) I then adhered the panel, which is about 1/8" smaller all round, to a base of natural cardstock measuring 3 1/4 by 4 inches. I stuck on a diecut embellishment from Jessica Swift Blomma.

The leaves and sentiment are from Kelly Purkey's Thankful stamp set. The leaves are in Hero Arts Pumpkin Pie, Just Rust and Tim Holtz Mowed Lawn inks and were then handcut out. The banner is also stamped using Pumpkin Pie and the sentiment is in Versafine Onyx Black. To finish off I added some brown stitching.
Hope u liked the card!

PS SPARKS Challenge Entry 4 - Love Everything

My last entry into Papersmooches SPARKS challenge. The inspirational challenge this week is based on the following picture:

I'm loving the result...

The black cardstock base measures 3 3/4 by 4 3/4 inches and has the leaves from PS Botanicals 2 heat embossed using Ranger Orange Sherbet embossing powder. I die cut purple and blue cardstock frames using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Fifteen set. For the purple frame, I stamped "love" from PS Bold Buzzwords and "everything" from SSS Thanks stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black. I added the two hearts also from Bold Buzzwords and heat embossed them using Ranger Turquoise embossing powder.

For the assembly of the card, I glued down the blue frame directly onto the base and using foam squares I added the purple frame to the blue frame.

NOTE: I'm also entering this into SSS Work it Wednesday Aug 2014.

PS SPARKS Challenge Entry 3 - Celebrate Card

Back again with my third entry into Papersmooches SPARKS challenge. The inspirational challenge this week is based on the following picture:

and my result...

The panel is an orange patterned paper from My Mind's Eye Bright Side and measures 3 3/4 by 4 1/2 inches. I white heat embossed the "celebrate" sentiment from PS Pretty Phrases. For the flowers  I used Distress ink Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac, Hero Arts Passion Flower and stamped the two flower images from PS Botanicals 2 repeatedly onto some white cardstock. I cut these out and adhered them using glue and/or foam squares.

I added my panel using foam squares onto a top folded white cardstock base measuring 1/16inch wider. To finish off I added some enamel dots from Studio Calico.

NOTE: I'm also entering this into SSS Work it Wednesday Aug 2014.
